Freelance Work Projects & Publications Resources & Odd Stuff Career & Resume Return to Main Page

Though I have a full time job (I'm a Producer at a 3D animation and special effects studio), I also take on occasional unrelated freelance work on the side, both writing and design. This page lists my skills and basic terms.

Please contact me if you wish to retain my services.

Services

Although my background is primarily as a game designer and technical writer, my abilities cover a wide range of functions, making me an excellent contractor for almost any kind of creative projects. I've worked on all of the followings:

  • Games & Rules Design;
  • World and Background Design;
  • Characters, Vehicles and Background Design;
  • Basic conceptual art;
  • Scenarios and Storyboards;
  • Book Designs;
  • And many more types of creative jobs!

I can create complete imaginary worlds for tabletop or computer games, and even other media (television, cinema, novel, comic strip). Don't simply think in terms of cross-platform byproducts, but consider, from the raw beginnings, a multimedia strategy that will reach across all forms of delivery. I can help you in this endeavor by creating complete reference "bibles" that simplify the transfer of ideas across media. Have entire universes created according to your needs! Mythology, geography, culture, history, magic, technology, environment, characters... all interweaving with one another to form a rich backdrop for storytelling and entertainment.

Standard Terms

The followings are my usual work terms.

  • Minimum rate of five cents per word;
    Higher rates or royalties may apply to works requiring in-depth research or design.
  • Work for Hire agreements (WFH) are no problem.
  • Non-disclosure agreements (NDA) are no problem.

I bring with me a little over twenty years of gaming and publishing experience (fifteen of them doing so professionally), combined with extensive published credentials. I pride myself on strong and efficient communication, excellent organization, and the ability to deal well with adversity.

Availability

Unless so listed here, I`m generally available on fairly short notice. I've done my share of emergency work during my days as editor; I understand the requirements and restrictions of last minute additions and revisions.

I produce 300-500 finished (i.e., edited and ready to publish) words per hour, on average; as a rule, I usually cannot devote more than two hours per day to writing. Rule design is possible but needs to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please take all of this in consideration when calculating deadlines. (A tigher schedule is feasable in emergencies, at a correspondingly higher payment rate.)

Previous Works

Here's a rapid overview of my previous freelance works.

  • Freeelance articles and games published in magazines (Pyramid, Games Unplugged, Dork Tower);
  • Fiction work for Firefly Games (CyborGladiators, Monster Island);
  • Original science-fiction world in upcoming Guardians of Order game book (TBA);
  • Worked on commercial computer games (world design on Final Testament -- originally for PS2, TBP);

See the Portfolio page for a detailed list of my all previous projects, including professional non-freelance game work. All told, I have worked on more than a hundred game books in my career.

IP Licensing

To license an existing Vectorsphere intellectual property is to gain a head start in the creation process, saving precious time during the pre-production period. You will benefit from the coherence and notoriety of ambitious, already-tested projects that can be adapted to all medias.

Please contact me if one of these IPs interest you.
